Apply for admission to the University of Bologna’s 2-year Master’s program in Economics and Public Policy (LMEPP). The program is specialized in public economics, and is centered around micro-level policies that governments enact to tackle issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, underdevelopment, social security, market power and regulation, education, work, international trade, health.
The program allows you to build analytical skills for a career as a public sector official or consultant, studying in an international program, and interacting with first-class instructors. You will learn, in particular, the economic principles and the econometric tools that are used in the quantitative evaluation of public policy.
First-year courses include: Introductory, optional courses in economics and statistics; Fundamentals of Public Economics; Cost-Benefit Analysis; Market Regulation and Competition Policy; Economic Statistics; Econometrics; Econometric Methods for Policy Evaluation; Public Administration Management Negotiation and Bargaining; Public Economic Law; Python and R for economists.
Second year courses include: Field Experiments for Policy Evaluation, Introduction to Machine Learning for Economists, and elective courses that will allow students to specialize in areas that they are mostly interested in, such as Development Economics and Policy, Education Economics and Policy, Environmental Economic Policy, Inequality, Poverty and Public Policy, Labor Economics and Policy, Social Security and Private Saving, Tax Policy, Trade Economics and Policy, Economics of Regulation.
