The "on-the-job" AMSE PhD track is an in-service training. This track allows PhD candidates to write a PhD dissertation while in employment. The objective of candidates enrolled in this Program is to quickly and successfully achieve high quality academic research that is of interest for their professional career. The standard duration of the PhD is 4 years.
Functioning
"On-the-job" PhD candidates are (co-)supervised by one or two AMSE faculty members. The standard duration of the PhD is 4 years. Tuition fees amount to about β¬ 2,000/year. "On-the-job" PhD candidates are not physically present at AMSE, but they must spend two weeks per year in Aix-en-Provence or Marseille, to meet and work with their advisor(s) and meet other AMSE candidates. They must also present their work once per year at the AMSE PhD seminar. These presentations can take place online. Eligibility criteria
The applicant should have left higher education since at least 3 years upon enrolment in the program and must hold a full-time job with at least a 3-year ongoing contract upon enrolment. The applicant must be employed as an economist or use economic analysis in her/his job. She/he must have achieved a first class standing in a Master in Economics. 2023 application guidelines; applications will be considered all year round. Formal enrollment in the program typically takes place in fall. Applicants are encouraged to apply between February and April.
