Tourism Economics and Management (TEaM) aims at preparing managers, professionals, and researchers to tackle the global challenges of contemporary tourism: being an engine for economic growth, a key player in the green transition to sustainable development, and a promoter of cultural heritage.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Graduates will have the competencies and skills required to fill highly qualified professional roles of responsibility in tourism destinations and tourism companies (tour operators, travel agencies, hotels, attractions, and event organizers), both at local and international levels.

Given the interdisciplinarity of the tourism sector, the TEaM graduates will develop strong and independent skills in economics and management, jointly with the knowledge of law and quantitative methods. Students will be prepared for market analysis, territorial planning, analysis of tourism flows, strategic and destination management, sustainable and ethical tourism, and cultural heritage policies.

Special attention is given to the systemic nature of tourism, embodied by the concept of tourism destination, with a view to sustainable tourism, resource management, and territorial development.

TEaM has received the quality assurance certificate TEDQUAL, granted by UNWTO and THEMIS Foundation, the most important certification worldwide for higher educational programs in tourism studies.

CAREER PROSPECTS

The TEaM graduate can work as an independent professional, or be employed in: private companies, public bodies, destination management organizations, research centers, and event organizations, in positions such as Project manager, Marketing or Financial Director, Managing Director, Destination Manager, Event Manager, Research and marketing consultant, Travel agent.

Since the University of Bologna is an affiliate member of UNWTO, our students can apply for internship opportunities at UNWTO or to other initiatives promoted by UNWTO and Themis Foundation.

Most of the members of CAST are also teachers in TEaM, so the link between the two structures is very tight.
