TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ENERGY ECONOMICS OR IN ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS

Developing its research and teaching activities in the field of economics, MINES ParisTech opens an Assistant Professor position in energy economics or in environmental economics.

This tenure track position is aimed at a young researcher, with an excellent academic background, but also a strong interest in applied questions. The successful candidate will develop a research program in cooperation with other CERNA researchers consistent with the laboratory’s research fields and contribute to teaching activities at MINES ParisTech.

1.          MINES PARISTECH, CERNA – CENTRE FOR INDUSTRIAL ECONOMICS

The CERNA – Centre for industrial economics is the economic research centre of MINES ParisTech. It is also a member of the CNRS Interdisciplinary Institute on Innovation (UMR 9217). Eight senior researchers and about 20 PhD students and post-docs work in four main areas: industrial economics, economics of innovation, environmental economics, and energy economics. The CERNA is actively involved in applied research that seeks to answer questions posed by decision-makers in the private and public sectors. It is host to three research chairs: the Chair of Media and Brand Economics, the Chair on Intellectual Property and the Markets for Technology, and the Chair in Commodity Economics, Finance and Management. Researchers are also involved in teaching in the MINES ParisTech Master in Science and Executive Engineering and in other university masters. The research centre is located in the heart of the Latin Quarter in central Paris.

2.          DESCRIPTION OF THE VACANCY

Research.

The successful candidate is expected to have already proven his/her ability to elaborate academic research in energy economics or in environmental and resource economics.  We particularly welcome applicants with good expertise in applied econometrics, applied microeconomics, or industrial organization (with applications to energy economics, or environmental economics).

He/she is expected to develop an independent and creative research program devoted to his/her topics, in order to contribute to the academic literature as well as to the policy business discussions. The successful candidate will co-supervise PhD students and publish in the best journals and international conferences. He/she will participate to externally funded research programs, and establish a strong relationship with the academic community, the business and the policy world.                                                                                                                                   

Teaching activities

He/she will take part to the various undergraduate and graduate courses and teaching sessions in which the CERNA – Centre for industrial economics is involved, open to MINES ParisTech students as well as to students undergoing post-graduate education. He/she will be encouraged to organize new courses to improve the educational offer of the research center.

Special features of the candidate’s profile

At the time of the appointment, the applicant must have a doctoral degree in economics. A post-doctoral experience, especially in a foreign laboratory, would be an advantage for this position. There is no restriction on the nationality of the candidates. A working knowledge of French would be appreciated, but is not mandatory.
