Evolutionary Behavioral Economics is one of four courses of the CEBEX Summer School on Behavioral Sciences 2020 which is held in Prague from July 23 (26) to August 1.

Have you ever wondered why one cannot resist eating sweets at midnight, why do people fear snakes, or why are our choices heavily influenced by what other people do? Answering these – at first sight silly – questions reveals that what may seem like a β€˜bias’ or β€˜error,’ can be actually a feature tricking us into maximizing behavior. The course uses insights from evolutionary biology and neurosciences to provide a critical perspective on theories of human decision making, which have been in last decades dominated by the heuristics and biases research program.

Topics: (1) Brief History and Methodology of Behavioral Economics, (2) Values, Preferences and Choices, (3) Information Processing Models, (4) Critique of the Information Processing Models, (5) Decision-making under Risk and Uncertainty, (6) Intertemporal Choice, (7) Mental Accounting, (8) Neuroscience, (9) Behavioral Game Theory, (10) A Brief History of Humankind and Evolution, (11) Origins of the Modern Mind and Decision-making, (12) Emotions and Human Behavior, (13) Foundations of Psychology and Economics, (14) Information Processing Models and Its Critique, (15) Do We Share β€œBiases” With Other Animals?, (16) Neuroscience, Experimenting Online, (17) Evolutionary Behavioral Economics and Public Policy
