Princeton University's Economics Department has been busy hiring in recent months. Now four prominent new faculty members join for the Spring 2025 semester: Simon Jäger, Pauline Carry, Kevin Dano and Fedor Sandomirskiy.
Professor Simon Jäger joins from MIT to focus on labor markets and inequality. Formerly head of the IZA Institute of Labor Economics in Germany, and advisor to the German government, his recent research delves into workers' beliefs about wages impacting job search and negotiation. Jäger expressed his enthusiasm for joining Princeton, stating, "The Department and the Section have an extraordinary legacy in advancing labor economics and industrial relations research, and it is both humbling and inspiring to join this remarkable community and shape it going forward."
Pauline Carry joins from the University of Chicago, having previously earned her PhD at Institut Polytechnique de Paris. Now she has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at Princeton Economics. She focuses on labor economics and macroeconomics, most recently examining the effects of working time regulations on employment allocation. Expressing her excitement about her new role, Carry articulated, "Princeton is such a special place for economics; I am very excited to be a part of this group. I look forward to learning from colleagues and students, and contributing to the vibrant scholarly community here."
Kevin Dano was most recently a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton, and has now been appointed as an Assistant Professor. He specializes in econometrics, panel data, and networks, introducing new methods in dynamic discrete choice models and network settings. Reflecting on his new position, Dano expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am thrilled to officially join Princeton Economics. Looking ahead, I'm excited to continue growing as a scholar in this fantastic community."
Lastly, Fedor Sandomirskiy has been promoted to Assistant Professor, having previously worked in the department as a research scholar and lecturer. He is a microeconomic theorist who studies information economics and economic design, blending microeconomic insights with algorithmic game theory. His research explores information acquisition and mechanisms to improve outcomes in strategic interactions. Clearly looking forward to his new role at Princeton, Sandomirskiy was quoted as saying: "Princeton has long existed in my mind as something between legend and textbook—a place that shaped modern research in so many fields and gave birth to game theory. I never dreamed I could become part of it."
Each new faculty member brings a unique expertise and research focus to Princeton's Economics Department, taking up their duties with the Spring Term underway from March 2025.
