The University of Pennsylvania (Penn) was founded in 1749 as an American private Ivy League research university in Philadelphia. Penn is one of the nine original Colonial Colleges and is a distinguished member of the Association of American Universities . Penn offers a diverse range of reputable academic departments in which approximately 24,700 bachelor's and master's students are enrolled.
