As of August 1, 2025, or by agreement, the Faculty of Economics and Management is looking to fill the following position for the Zug Institute for Blockchain Research

The University of Lucerne is a modern, personal and dynamic human sciences university at the heart of Switzerland and Europe. In keeping with our guiding principle 'Moving Human Sciences', we focus on people and their institutions with our six faculties and two academies, soon to be joined by two university research centres. Our aim is to develop the University of Lucerne into a pioneering, internationally visible centre for research and teaching in the human sciences.

The Faculty of Economics and Management opened its doors in the autumn semester of 2016. Exceptional supervision of students, interactive forms of teaching, close links between academia and practice, a focus on current issues in political economics, management and data sciences, and a young, motivated team all give this faculty a unique profile.

As of August 1, 2025, or by agreement, the Faculty of Economics and Management is looking to fill the following position for the Zug Institute for Blockchain Research

Assistant Professorship in Macroeconomics and Blockchain with Tenure Track (75-100%)

The field “Macroeconomics and Blockchain" is broadly understood. It includes (but is not restricted to) questions related to the opportunities and challenges created by digital currencies and payment systems for financial markets and the macro-economy as a whole. The successful candidate will be an active representative of the field in both research and teaching.
We are looking for a young researcher with a promising international research profile who holds a PhD in Economics (or related fields such as Finance) by the time of appointment at the latest. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the further development of the Faculty as well as the newly established University Centre for Blockchain Research. A willingness to acquire a working knowledge of German within a reasonable timeframe is expected.

The Faculty of Economics aims to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching. Therefore, qualified female researchers are especially encouraged to apply. In the interest of better compatibility between professional and family life, the position can also be filled on a part-time basis (75% minimum).
