DUTIESWorking in the Internationalization Office (IO), the successful applicant will strive to ensure a seamless arrival experience for new International Students prior to and throughout their adjustment to university life and successful settlement to a new country. 

Specific duties will include initiating and managing special projects related to the arrival and to the in-person/virtual welcome of new international students (developing a communications plan - welcome emails, new student checklists, arrivals website, IO information sessions and webinars for newly accepted students), overseeing and reporting on the airport greeter program for all newly arriving students during the Fall, Winter, and Spring intake periods; supervising student employees (airport greeters and arrival helpers); responding to new student inquiries; coordinating with the department of Student Life and the City of St. John’s to promote orientation/welcome events each semester; working closely with the Office of the Registrar and the School of Graduate Studies related to new student arrivals; providing information and assistance to international students related to off-campus and temporary housing; assisting new students with landlord-tenant issues; organizing international Tax Program workshops every March and April; and performing other related duties as required.  It is expected that the successful candidate will be available for after hours and weekend work when required.

QUALIFICATIONSExperience (1-3 years) in international student advising; completion of an undergraduate degree in Business, Education, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and training. This position requires an ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically and tactfully both verbally and in writing, particularly when working through challenging, immediate or difficult situations; excellent interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills are required; ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams is important; possession of strong supervisory skills, budget management and intercultural experience is required. The ideal candidate must be able to collaborate and connect with students and support offices and have a background in working with post-secondary students, particularly those from other countries; and past experience in student support or research/training. Familiarity with the Residential Tenancy Act and U-File would be considered an asset.

SALARY                   $49,602 - $74,399 per annum (Management and Professional)CLOSING DATE             July 16, 2020
