This position is suitable for furthering scientific training according to Section 2, 

paragraph 1 of the Act on Fixed-Term Employment Contracts in Academic (WissZeitVG).

 

for research on issues of electricity market design and risk management in both electricity markets and the industrial sector. Researchers in the department have no teaching responsibilities but are expected to contribute to policy and transfer activities, including workshops and exchanges with experts from companies and policy makers, as well as communicating findings in policy-relevant time frames and formats. 

 

Your qualifications:

  • Completed doctorate in economics (or close to completing it)
  • Background in energy or industrial economics with a methodological focus on applied microeconomic theory, numerical simulations or empirical methods
  • Good understanding of one or more of the following topics: electricity markets, hedging, energy policy and financing issues as well as willingness to familiarize yourself with new topics
  • Very good language skills in English
  • Initiative and interest in teamwork and openness to interdisciplinary collaboration

You are paid according to the collective agreement for the public sector (Tarifvertrag des öffentlichen Dienstes, TVöD Bund), which includes an annual bonus as well as a company pension with VBL Ost. 

The office is located in the middle of Berlin-Mitte convenient to public transportation. As a DIW Berlin employee, you are eligible for a reduced VBB-Firmenticket that is partially subsidized.

This is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years. Remuneration is paid according to TVöD Bund, salary group 14.
