The National Bank of Slovakia invites applications for positions entitled

Senior Analyst / Analyst

in its Economic and Monetary Analysis and Strategic Initiatives Departments.
 

The National Bank of Slovakia is Slovakia’s central bank, and a part of the Eurosystem / European System of Central Banks (ESCB). Our aim is to further improve our reputation as a highly regarded, mid-sized European central bank with outstanding specialist knowledge in specific areas. 

We are seeking candidates with background in:
•    supply-side analysis and long-run growth modelling 
•    macroeconomic topics using micro data in areas such as productivity and firm-level performance and international trade
•    labour market analysis including population ageing and migration
•    microeconometric analysis and microsimulation modelling
•    monetary policy
•    macro-finance with strong interest in climate change impacts and policies
•    public policies more broadly

Successful candidates will among other:
•    monitor and/or forecast macroeconomic and structural developments; assess vulnerabilities and challenges in the Slovak economy, including those related to international trade fragmentation, technological change, climate change and ageing
•    develop analytical tools and econometric models, and conduct econometric analyses
•    contribute to the bank’s key analytical outputs and reports; some of this work may lead to research publications, though independent research will also be encouraged
•    prepare analytical materials and opinions for the management of the NBS
•    represent the NBS in meetings and/or working groups with domestic and international organizations

We invite applications from candidates with the following qualifications:
•    completed or expected PhD in Economics, Finance or in a related field with a significant quantitative component (experience in applied economic analysis from a policy institution would be an asset)
or
Master’s degree in Economics or in a related field with a significant quantitative component and 5 years of experience from a policy or research institution (less experienced applicants can be considered for the Analyst positions)

•    advanced econometric, data analysis or programming skills, and practical experience with common econometric and/or mathematical software (e.g. Stata, R, Python, Matlab or other)
•    excellent command of English; knowledge of Slovak is not a requirement
•    basic understanding of Central European economies would be an asset

Slovak law requires us to state that the basic pay component of the remuneration is not going to be lower than 2,255 EUR gross monthly for Senior Analysts and 1,880 EUR gross monthly for Analysts. Based on performance Senior Analysts can earn upwards of 50,000 EUR in gross terms annually including variable pay components.
