The Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) is an interdisciplinary research centre in Regensburg, Germany, exploring historical, economic, and political developments in Eastern and South-eastern Europe. IOS is publicly funded by the Federal Government of Germany and the Free State of Bavaria. To strengthen our team of research economists, we invite applications for a position as
Postdoctoral Researcher/Economist f/m/d (up to TVL-E13, 100 %)
starting on February 1st, 2025, or upon agreement.

Remuneration is based on the German TV-L public pay scale, salary group up to E13. The appointment is initially for three years, with the possibility of further extension. The position may be converted to a permanent position, subject to performance criteria and budget constraints.

Your profile:
We invite applications from researchers whose research interests are in empirical economics and in any of the following fields: economic history, international economics, political economy, regional and development economics. Willingness to conduct research on Eastern and Southeastern Europe is valued.
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in economics or be near completion, research experience and strong econometric skills. A publication record in internationally peer-reviewed journals is an asset, as is an interest in multidisciplinary co-operation.

- Conduct original research relevant to the institute
- Publish in international peer-reviewed journals
- Presentation of the research at conferences and workshops
- Designing, acquiring and leading third-party projects in your area of research
