The research group Quantitative Finance and Risk Analysis at the University of Trier seeks to fill a position as

Research Assistant / Ph.D. candidate (f/m/d, 75%, 3-year fixed-term)

as soon as possible but no later than May 1, 2022. Payment follows E 13 TV-L. The successful applicant is expected to conduct research within the project “Effects of
macroeconomic forecast disagreement on asset prices and risk premia”
supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

You will join the research group Quantitative Finance and Risk Analysis that works on the development of new models to represent and quantify uncertainty and risk and their consequences for savings and investment decisions. In addition to the core team of four professors in Economics, Finance, and Mathematics, the research group consists of several active (post-)doctoral researchers. Required qualifications:

  • (Very) good Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Very good command of the English language.
  • Experience in (statistical) programming languages (preferably R).

Desired qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of modern econometric methods, asset pricing, and/or capital markets.
  • Experience in empirical research.
  • Experience in working with data providing platforms (Refinitiv Eikon or Bloomberg) and database applications (SQL).
  • Solid knowledge of the German language is advantageous, but not a requirement.
