With the financial sector becoming ever more digital, the need for central bank digital currency (CBDC) is being increasingly discussed. As part of our Digital Euro team, you will play an important role in driving forward analysis and onward development of this innovative form of central bank money. You will bring your expertise to bear in a dynamic environment characterised by technological progress and regulatory challenges. Valuable work: your role with us
- Examine and assess current research findings on the topic of CBDC and make your voice heard in the expert discourse. This will involve looking at innovative approaches to the further development of CBDC and private sector initiatives relating to the tokenisation of assets and placing them into their academic context.
- Embark on your own research projects and independently formulate new avenues for exploration.
- Create academic value added with your written publications and drive innovation forward.
- Promote the exchange of ideas with the expert community by establishing and cultivating collaborative research initiatives.
- Set up a publications platform for studies on CBDC and organise expert conferences to make the findings accessible to a broader public.

Unique assets: your skills and qualifications
- Accredited master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a subject relevant to the position (e.g. economics, mathematics, computing or physics) with above-average results
- Experience of conducting independent research work, as evidenced by a (soon-to-be-completed) doctorate in a relevant area of study and/or publications in leading academic journals or equivalent research papers
- A thorough knowledge of the technical and economic aspects of crypto-tokens and CBDC
- A thorough knowledge of the technical architectures of back-end and/or front-end systems in payments
- An agile mindset and knowledge of agile working methods
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- A confident demeanour, negotiation skills and powers of persuasion
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Very good communication skills in German and English
