The Department of Business and Economics at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU) is inviting applications for the position of a W2 Professorship for Economics, esp. Data Science in Economics as of 1 April 2023.
We are looking for a candidate who is outstandingly qualified in the field of data science in the context of economics. In particular, a focus on applied modern methods of data collection and analysis such as (causal) machine learning and artificial intelligence is expected, for example for the analysis and design of corporate and individual decision making processes and their implications for markets and the economy as a whole.
Publications in internationally renowned scientific journals, success in the acquisition of third-party funding and proof of excellent research are expected. Very good performance in university teaching, the ability to represent the subject „Data Science“ in its breadth in economic issues, and a high level of commitment in university self-administration are also expected. International research experience is desirable. Participation in the faculty‘s economics graduate programs is expected. Furthermore, a commitment to the relevant university-wide activities such as the „Heine Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science“ (HeiCAD) is desired.
Conditions for employment are, in addition to general administrative conditions in accordance with § 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalia University Act (Gesetz über die Hochschulen des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen), an aptitude for teaching, exceptional competence in research, and additional scientific achievements.
