The Research Project SPECTRUM is based on the social perception of the ecological transition, by making a comprehensive analysis of the interactions between the socio- economic and communicative factors and people’s opinion of the ecological issues at the regional level. The research is designed to capture the socio-economic determinants and the communication strategies that drive the people’s view of environment and its territorial specificities in Spain, to derive policy measures to successfully reach a green economy in the horizon 2050. It combines techniques of sociology, economy, communication and computing to favor citizen’s empowerment and citizens’ active participation in the Spanish ecological pathway to a green economy. The research takes an inter-disciplinary methodology that integrates regional surveys to identify people’s perception, macroeconomic models of economic impact analysis, microeconometric models, communication tools (Content Discourse Analysis) and computing techniques to follow a gradual design of policy mechanisms able to facilitate the Spanish ecological transition.

Organized by:
SPECTRUM: Social Perception and Ecological Transition Under a Multi-dimensional Socio-economic Analysis of the Spanish Regions (Universitat Rovira i Virgili)

Supported by:
ECO-SOS: Research Centre on Economics and Sustainability
IU-RESCAT: Research Institute in Sustainability, Climate Change and Energy Transition (Universitat Rovira i Virgili)

Workshop objectives
This workshop provides an opportunity to all those interested in the interaction between sustainability and social perception and, in general terms to address global challenges faced by our economies when designing energy transition strategies. In this sense we want to analyze environmental implications of economic activities, quantify its negative externalities and provide proposals to achieve more affordable energy transition scenarios.

Researchers are encouraged to submit both empirical and theoretical papers that are broadly consistent the following topics:

Environmental conflicts Energy economics
Territorial strategies Energy transition
Sustainability and firm dynamics Climate change
