Research papers are being invited for a one-day ICSSR-Sponsored conference on Financial Inclusion, A Potential Game Changer for Vision Viksit Bharat to be held in the Department of Economics, Jadavpur University Kolkata on January 16, 2025 (Thursday).
India's journey towards financial inclusion has been nothing short of remarkable. From humble beginnings to becoming a global role model, India now boasts one of the most advanced and inclusive digital payment systems in the world. This transformation has not only empowered millions but has also laid the foundation for a more equitable society. Financial inclusion stands as a cornerstone of Vision Viksit Bharat, shaping the nationβs aspirations for a prosperous and inclusive future. As we gather at this conference, we will explore India's achievements in financial inclusion, while addressing the challenges that remain, particularly in a country as diverse and complex as ours. Together, we aim to chart the next steps towards making financial access a reality for every Indian, ensuring that the benefits of growth and development reach all corners of the nation.
The organizers invite submissions of both theoretical and empirical papers from the Research Scholars on the broader theme of Financial Inclusion of the vulnerable population. Some of the indicative sub-themes related to the broad theme are the following:
1. Access to Financial Services for Vulnerable Population:
A) Financial literacy programmes targeting marginalised communities.
B) Role of selfhelp groups (SHGs) and microfinance institutions (MFIs) in empowering women, rural and low-income populations.
C) Financial inclusion for persons with disabilities: barriers and solutions.
D) Intersection of gender and disability in financial access.
E) Expanding access to savings and insurance products for vulnerable groups.
2. Policy Interventions and Government Programmes:
A) Assessment of government schemes for financial inclusion.
B) Impact of social security measures on vulnerable populations.
C) Role of fiscal transfers in state-led financial inclusion initiatives.
D) Targeted subsidies and financial aids for economically weaker sections (EWS).
3. Technological Innovations and Digital Financial Inclusion:
A) Digital financial services for the unbanked.
B) Impact of FinTech on financial inclusion of low-income population.
C) UPI and e-wallet as tools for financial access.
D) Barriers to digital financial literacy among vulnerable groups.
E) Ensuring security and privacy for digital financial transactions.
F) Role of AI and big data in identifying financially excluded individuals.
Note for the Authors: We invite authors to submit original research papers that offer insightful analysis and impactful policy implications. Submissions should include a structured abstract (around 200 words) and the contact information of the corresponding author. Please email completed papers in MS Word format, preferably in Times New Roman Font, 12-point size and 1.5-line spacing to icssrvvb.juvd@gmail.com with a copy to vikas.dixit@jadavpuruniversity.in and rilina.basu@jadavpuruniversity.in. The submission deadline is December 5, 2024. All papers will undergo a peer review, and selected contributions will be published in an edited volume by a renowned publisher. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by December 20, 2024. Please note that there is no registration fee for this conference. We look forward to your contributions!
