12th Joint IOS/APB/EACES Summer Academy

We invite scholars from economics and cognate disciplines to submit extended abstracts or full papers. Topics include, but are not limited to

  • Redistributive effects of fiscal, labour market and social policies
  • Social exclusion, poverty and inequality: concepts and measurement
  • Income mobility, life-cycle dynamics and intergenerational transmission of welfare
  • Perceptions of inequality and demand for redistribution

Organized by the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS Regensburg) in cooperation with the Akademie für Politische Bildung Tutzing (APB) and the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies (EACES).

Date: July 6–8, 2020

Location: APB Tutzing, on Lake Starnberg near Munich

Preference will be given to papers focusing on Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Submissions should include a short CV and an extended abstract (maximum 2,000 words) or a full paper. Please send all documents in one pdf file to summeracademy@ios-regensburg.de                   

Submission deadline: April 1, 2020.

Accepted participants will be notified by April 20, 2020. Full accepted papers are expected by May 20, 2020.

The IOS/APB/EACES Summer Academies on Central and Eastern Europe aim to bring together Ph.D. students and Postdocs in a workshop atmosphere. The number of participants is limited to 12. The workshop language is English. The Hans Raupach Award will honor the author(s) of a paper of exceptional merit.  

Сonference fee: 50 € (including single-room accommodation for two nights and all meals)

IOS Regensburg is an interdisciplinary area studies center affiliated with the University of Regensburg. It explores economic, political, and historical developments in East and Southeast Europe from a global perspective. Apart from research, it provides policy advice both within Germany and internationally.

Situated on beautiful Lake Starnberg, right between Munich and the mountain range, APB Tutzing has a reputation for organizing social sciences conferences and workshops.
