Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The Department of Economics and Finance invites applications for a continuing position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor/Associate Professor at North American Universities) in Economics. In this role, you will contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the Department through high-quality teaching, research, and service. Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Economics, with a focus on Applied Microeconomics, in areas such as Regulation, Energy Economics, Law and Economics and/or Labour Economics, although applicants in other areas of Applied Microeconomics would also be considered.
- Undertaking impactful research in Applied Microeconomics and publishing in internationally recognised Economics journals.
- Supervising postgraduate students and supporting their academic development.
- Contributing to the Department's vibrant research culture and the wider scholarly community.
- Participating in departmental, School, and University service activities.
- Supporting a positive, collaborative, and inclusive academic environment.
- Engaging with external partners and contributing to the reputation and profile of the UC Business School.
The successful candidate is expected to commence by early 2027.
Mōu | Who You Are
You will be an enthusiastic and committed academic who brings strong disciplinary expertise, a collegial mindset, and a passion for learning and discovery. You will have:
- A completed PhD in Economics (or close to completion with evidence of imminent submission).
- Demonstrated potential or a proven record of publishing in high-quality, internationally recognised journals.
- Strong skills in Applied Microeconomics, with the ability to teach across levels, including first-year courses.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, enabling effective teaching and engagement with students.
- A commitment to high-quality, student-focused teaching and continuous improvement.
- The ability and willingness to supervise postgraduate research students.
- A collaborative approach and readiness to contribute positively to departmental service and collegial activities.
