This is a grade W1-professorship for which recruitment payments can be offered.

The successful candidate will represent the field of Business Administration, specializing in Financial Accounting, in both research and teaching.

We expect an internationally competitive research profile in Financial Accounting. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong potential to publish in leading international peer-reviewed journals and to attract competitive external research funding. The research agenda should address core issues in Financial Accounting and contribute to the field’s further development. The professorship may cover both traditional areas of Financial Accounting and/or research questions related to changing regulatory, technological, and societal conditions. Possible research areas include, but are not limited to, financial reporting and disclosure, capital market effects of accounting information, sustainability reporting, and digitalization in Financial Accounting. Methodologically, we expect a strong empirical-quantitative orientation (e.g., archival data analysis, experimental methods, or survey-based research).

With respect to teaching, the successful candidate will complement and strengthen the faculty’s existing curriculum in Business Administration, particularly in Accounting and Finance. During the qualification phase, the candidate will contribute to core Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. Teaching responsibilities may include both introductory and specialized courses. Upon successful completion of the qualification phase, the professor will represent the field of Financial Accounting in its full breadth and offer advanced methodological courses, including courses in the Faculty’s doctoral program.

The teaching load comprises four contact hours per week throughout the qualification phase.
The successful candidate must be able to teach in both German and English.

The position offers attractive conditions for tenure-track appointees. This professorship is particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers. The requirements for an appointment are a completed university degree, pedagogical suitability and a doctorate of outstanding quality. The University of Hohenheim is certified with the DHV seal of approval for fair and transparent appointment procedures. Applicants are requested to take into account the appointment criteria set out in the university's appointment guidelines, as these are also taken into account in the selection of candidates in the appointment procedure.

If the requirements for civil service are met, the appointment will be a temporary civil service position for six years. After six years, the applicant may be appointed to a W3-position if the requirements described in the University’s quality assurance guidelines are met. The appointment to a W3-position may be done without any additional call for applications and through a simplified appointment process. There is no interim evaluation. If the candidate possesses sufficient academic qualifications, the qualification phase may be reduced by up to two years upon request.
