Previously serving as Professor of Economics and Head of the Department of Economics at RMIT University, Professor Zhang is an internationally recognized expert in experimental and behavioral economics. She started in her new position at the University of Sydney on 15 July 2026.

Professor Zhang has cultivated a global research profile, securing over $1.6 million in competitive research funding from prestigious institutions, including the Australian Research Council and the U.S. National Science Foundation. Her findings have been published in leading journals such as Management Science and The Economic Journal, demonstrating her strong influence in the field of economics.
