Dr Dirk Schumacher today takes over the role of Chief Economist at KfW Group.
KfW is one of the world’s leading promotional banks. On behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and its constituent states, it finances projects and investments that support economic, social and environmental living conditions across the globe.
KfW CEO Stefan Wintels praised Schumacher's appointment, noting his experience in the context of the German and wider European economy.
“Having worked for a wide range of different banks as well as the European Central Bank, Dr Schumacher will bring many years of broad experience of economic analysis”
Schumacher's career includes roles at Commerzbank, Goldman Sachs, and most recently, Natixis, where he led the European Macro Research Team. He will take over the Economics Department at KfW Research, succeeding Dr Fritzi Köhler-Geib, who left the bank in November 2024.
