We examine a variety of issues relevant to society, politics and business using experimental methods. The institute is integrated into the economics and management faculty at the LUH, which offers young scientists a professional, active and stimulating international research environment.

The Institute of Money and International Finance welcomes applications for the following position starting July 1, 2026 or at an individually arranged date: Akademische Rätin or Akademischer Rat (Post-Doc; m/f/d) in Monetary Macroeconomics (salary scale A13 NBesO, 100 %)

The position with temporary civil servant status is initially limited to 36 months and can be extended for a further 36 months.

Your role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Independent research activities
  • Independent teaching as part of the institute
  • Supervision of students and PhD students at the institute
  • Presentation of your research at international conference and building of your research network

You will be involved in the teaching and administrative duties at the institute.

Who are we looking for?

In addition, you should have a strong research focus in applied monetary macroeconomics and ideally conduct research on topics that are already represented at the institute, such as the formation of macroeconomic expectations, central bank communication, or household finance. A keen interest in experimental research using surveys or laboratory experiments (behavioral economics) is desirable. You should also have excellent organizational, social, and communication skills, as well as a high degree of motivation, flexibility, and initiative. Sufficient knowledge of German is essential in order to teach in German and will be expected to be acquired within 1-2 years if that is not yet the case.
