Prof. Axel Börsch-Supan
MEA is currently looking for one or two
Applied Econometricians
with interest in the interactions between bio-medical and socio-economic conditions over the life course, and their implications for retirement and saving behaviour, the organisation and financing of long-term care and its relation to dementia and cognitive decline. Experience with micro data sets relating to the above topics and knowledge about structural modelling are especially welcome.
The Munich Research Institute for the Economics of Aging and SHARE analyses (MEA) is small research institute with currently 17 scientists in close collaboration with the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science (https://www.mpisoc.mpg.de/max-planck-emeritus-gruppe/). Its mission is to build micro and macroeconomic models to better understand the implications of individual and population aging, and to estimate the parameters of these models with European data on health, economic and social conditions, especially the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). MEA consists of three units: social policy, life cycle decisions and health; collaborations across units are encouraged. We are a multidisciplinary team with a mixture of post-doctoral researchers and Ph.D. students.
