Among several other strategic interventions, Constructor University is seeking to strengthen, extend and enhance the School of Science's earth science research and teaching in Environment and Sustainability by making a strategic appointment at an Associate level. Geoscience is key to achieving many of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and creating a sustainable global society. Accordingly, Constructor University invites applications from interested candidates for the following position, to be filled ideally in Fall 2024: Associate Professorship of Sustainable Management (m/f/d). We invite applications from across the full breadth of sustainability, geoscience, and management, including, but not limited to, environmental economics, supply of critical raw materials, geohazards and sustainable geo-energy, hydrogeology, marine and coastal geoscience, and palaeoclimatology. We also highly value cross-disciplinary research and anticipate the successful candidate will develop new collaborations with other groups, both within the School of Science and more widely across the university.

Associate Professorship of Sustainable Management (m/f/d)

The successful candidate will be an exceptional mid-career scientist with a demonstrable track record in driving forward the economics and sustainability agenda from a geoscience perspective and be able to offer vision and leadership.
Your responsibilities:
In this position, you will support our research and teaching activities in the field of Earth Sciences, Sustainability and Management of Environmental Resources. The successful candidate will be teaching Bachelor level courses (for example, “Sustainability and Infrastructure Investments” and “Financial and Sustainable Management of Natural Risks”), supporting and advising students on their studies and supervise Bachelor, Master and PhD theses and research projects. The candidate is expected to engage in innovative research in the field of Sustainability Economics/Resource Economics and collaborate with colleagues from the field of Earth Sciences.
Your qualifications:
- PhD degree in the field of earth sciences and sustainability, environmental sciences, management sciences and related fields, economics, econometrics and related fields, finance, geophysics, and related fields
- Strong publication record and strong competencies in economic modelling of sustainable development issues.
- Proven experience and success in teaching in international and diverse environments
- Demonstrable interest in innovative teaching and learning approaches.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in English, the language of instruction and communication on campus
- Intercultural experience and competence
