The Banque centrale du Luxembourg (BCL), member of the Eurosystem, is currently seeking to recruit for its Financial Stability and Macroprudential Surveillance Department:

 

Economists - Financial Stability (m/f)

Career: A1

Your mission:

Within the Financial Stability and Macro prudential Analysis section or the Macroprudential Policy and Regulation section, the Economist - Financial Stability will contribute to the analysis and assessment of current macro-financial conditions, systemic risks, structural and/or cyclical developments in both the Luxembourg and EU/euro area financial sectors as well as to the evaluation of macroprudential policy and instruments.

 

Your responsibilities:

·         Drafting of working papers and publications in the BCL’s Financial Stability Review, specific reports and briefing notes related to systemic risk,  macro-prudential policy and  regulation for internal purposes and for the Systemic Risk Committee (CdRS);

·         Participation in and contribution to Eurosystem and/or European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) task forces, expert groups and working groups; 

·         Other tasks may include the development of models and indicators for early warning and monitoring the resilience for the Luxembourg financial sector components as well as the evaluation of the effectiveness of macro-prudential tools and instruments.

  

Your profile:

  • Master or PhD degree in economics, finance or econometrics;
  • Professional expertise in the fields of economics of banking, financial stability, or macro-prudential supervision would be an advantage;
  • Strong analytical ability and mastery of statistical tools and econometric techniques of panel and time series  and/or general equilibrium models (DSGE);
  • Familiar with aggregated and granular economic and financial databases, in particular banks’ balance sheets and profit and loss accounts, investment funds and other reporting statistics specific to the financial sector;
  • Ability to author “advanced” studies and assessments of risks in the financial sector or one of its components and translate those reports and analyses into clear policy-relevant conclusions;
  • Fluent in English and French. Luxembourgish would be a distinctive advantage;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as well as the ability to produce clear and high-quality analytical notes and/or reports;
  • Ability to work independently or in a group under time constraints as well as in a multicultural team environment.
