Applications are invited for one post-doctoral position in Entrepreneurial Finance at the Department of Economics, Management, and Quantitative Methods (DEMM) of the University of Milan.
THE POSITION:
- Duration: 2 years.
- Salary: Gross salary is 21,000 Euros per year. The fellowship is tax-free but subject to 11% social security contributions.
- Teaching: the fellowship does not involve any teaching; remunerated teaching and Master thesis supervision opportunities are typically available if requested by the post-doctoral fellow.
CANDIDATE PROFILE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates will have obtained a PhD in Finance, Management, Economics or related disciplines.
- Candidates are expected to conduct research at the highest international standards, taking part in existing projects on entrepreneurial finance, with specific focuses on venture capital access, impact investing and government intervention in the field.
- Proficiency in statistical packages such as Stata is essential.
- Candidates are expected to participate actively in departmental life and seminars, and to be willing to collaborate with resident fellows on projects of mutual interest.
- Language knowledge: English (knowledge of Italian is NOT required).
ACTIVITIES
- Collection of primary data, at the firm-, investment- and investor (agency)- level: Support preparation and review of questionnaires, data collection management, and logistical supervision of field and online experiments.
- Collection of secondary data, at the firm-, investment- and investor (agency)- level: Data collection from sources including Orbis, Eikon Refinitiv, Pitchbook, and Data management
- Quantitative Analysis and Data Management: Contribute to advanced data analysis using statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, Python), including the development of econometric models and the management of complex datasets.
- Scientific Writing and Project Drafting Support: Collaborate on the writing of scientific articles and preparation of research grant proposals.
- Communication and Coordination: Participate in coordinating with the research team and other collaborators, contributing to workshops, and presenting results to academic and institutional partners.
