The Chair of Econometrics at the University of Mannheim, Germany, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to enlarge its team in Impact Evaluations in Developing Countries.

With a strong focus on quantitative impact evaluations in developing countries we analyse and evaluate programmes and policies in Africa and Asia in the areas of poverty reduction, microfinance, health, education, employment, nutrition, agriculture, climate, humanitarian assistance etc. Our vision is to help the poor in Africa, Asia, and Latin America through evidence-generation via Impact Evaluations about which policies, programmes and interventions are effective and how their effectiveness could be improved.

Your tasks would include

- Conducting (quasi-)experimental impact evaluation studies in developing countries

- Research in applied econometrics, statistics, or survey methodology

- Teaching in applied econometrics, statistics, or survey methodology

- Preparing grants and grant applications, proposal writing

The ideal candidate has a PhD, or will soon defend his PhD in economics, econometrics, empirical social sciences, data science, statistics, or survey methodology. Profound quantitative skills (econometrics, statistics, survey design) are required, as well as comprehensive reporting skills (quantitative analysis of data sets and report writing). Prior field experience as well as willingness to supervise large-scale household surveys in Africa, Asia and Latin America are essential. Skills in large-data analysis, qualitative analyses and good organizational abilities are acknowledged. A good command of STATA or R is required, knowledge of Python would be an asset. You will work within a supportive team of experienced researchers.

The position offers a good opportunity to deepen your expertise in applied econometrics, impact evaluations and survey methodology.
