The Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw is seeking to fill a position of a Post-Doc and a Ph.D. student (full-time, fixed-term).

We are looking for Ph.D. and post-doc candidates to join our team working on social and climate tipping points.

We aim to study policies that can help create networks of users of new technologies that can prevent climate change.

A climate tipping point is a critical value in the global temperature, after which it is crossed, a catastrophic event may occur. Such catastrophes can cause abrupt and persistent changes in climate and the economy. Climate tipping points can be prevented or slowed down with behavioral change. A social tipping point describes a critical number of adopters of a new technology or behavior (e.g., renewable energy, electric cars, vegetarian diets, recycling) that has the potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and thus may slow down climate tipping points, which we will study in the project. We will develop models using the agent-based method and the dynamics on networks. Such models allow studying patterns emerging from the interactions of heterogeneous agents.

We are looking for PhD and post-doc candidates to join our team. They will work closely with Prof. Karolina Safarzynska.
