Our BA Business and Management is designed to equip you for a management career in industry, commerce or the public sector. To this end the programme provides you with a detailed understanding of the functional areas of business and the relationship of management theories and practice to them. In addition to modules covering accounting, economics, marketing and human resource management, there is the opportunity to take a number of optional modules. The programme integrates the various components studied through the final year Business Strategy module. Another feature of the programme is the option of a final year business project, which will develop your research skills and involves their application to problems in the local or wider business community. You will gain detailed knowledge of the various functional areas of a business, a broad appreciation of the environment in which businesses operate, the theory and practice of management, and the range of skills necessary for high employability in the administrative and managerial job market. The modules we outline here provide examples of what you can expect to learn on this degree course based on recent academic teaching. The precise modules available to you in future years may vary depending on staff availability and research interests, new topics of study, timetabling and student demand.
