Autonomous University of Barcelona

IDEA is a joint project between theDepartment of Economics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Institut d'Anàlisi Econòmica, and the Barcelona School of Economics.

The IDEA Graduate Program in Economics is a doctoral program structured along the lines of Anglo-Saxon tradition: Two years of course work leading to a master’s degree, the IDEA Master in Economic Analysis, providing students with a solid training in economic theory, followed by three years of original research leading to a doctoral degree, the IDEA Ph.D. Program in Economics. Admission into the PhD program is based on a careful evaluation of the student's background, which includes the grades in the master's courses and the quality of the master's research paper.

Our Ph.D. students enjoy a high level of student-faculty interaction and a stimulating research environment with regular seminars and workshops. Additionally, being a reference Ph.D. program of the Barcelona School of Economics offers our students excellent opportunities, like participating in the jointly organized research events or facilitating research collaboration among its members.

The IDEA Ph.D. Program is part of the ENTER network of European universities.
