The University of Kassel offers scholarships as part of a project funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).(subject to final funding commitment). The project aims at educating young economists from Ukraine and prepare them to help rebuild Ukraine and pursue the necessary reforms on its way to European Union membership. The focus rests on in the following fields:
• Sustainability, Energy and the Environment
• Education policy and development in higher education
• Federalism and reforms of the public sector
The PhD-student will be part member of the Graduate school "Economic Behavior & Governance".
The Master students will be enrolled in the English-taught Master program “Economic Behavior & Government” .

We are searching for one PhD candidate with
- a Master’s degree in economics with good or very good academic achievements
- profound knowledge and experience in empirical research methods
- good knowledge of English
- Candidates with experience in (empirical) research in one of the above fields are encouraged to apply.
We are searching for four Master students with
- a Bachelor degree in economics with good or very good academic achievements.
- good knowledge of English
- The candidate must fulfill the admission requirements for the Master program Economic Behavior & Governance (https://www.uni-kassel.de/uni/studium/economic-behaviour-and-governance-master)
All candidates must belong to one of the following three groups:
- Ukrainian citizens who had their center of life in Ukraine until February 24, 2022 and/or who have been in Germany as exchange students since the winter semester 2021/22, could not return due to the war and are now seeking a degree in Germany.
- Third-country nationals or stateless persons who enjoy international protection in Ukraine, as well as their family members, provided they were in Ukraine before or on February 24, 2022.
- Third-country nationals who resided in Ukraine with a permanent residence permit before or on February 24, 2022, and who cannot safely return to their country of origin.
