On 10 to 12 April 2024, we invite you to join us at Lake Constance for the international, interdisciplinary In_equality Conference 2024.

Concerns about inequality continue to dominate academic and public debates in the face of significant societal changes, such as rapid technological change, globalisation, climate change, the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the consequences of the war in Ukraine.

At this conference, we are particularly interested in exploring the political causes and consequences of inequality across different dimensions and empirical domains. For instance, how do individuals perceive different inequalities, and what consequences do these perceptions have for preference formation and political participation? How and to what extent do inequality-related grievances trigger political mobilisation and the rise of new social movements? Finally, how do public demands influence and affect policy-makers' responsiveness, and how do policies affect structural inequalities? The invited contributions address these and related questions from all areas of inequality research.

Our three-day program will feature 27 interdisciplinary panels covering various topics from gender, ethnicity, wealth, and educational inequality to language questions concerning the welfare state, debt, austerity and climate change. The β€œSatellite Programme I-V” will supplement the scientific contributions with roundtables on knowledge transfer, open science or global south, or topics related to special issues of our cooperating partner institutions.

In our commitment to environmental sustainability, we have organised a climate-neutral conference. Furthermore, we will live-stream all panel discussions to ensure a hybrid conference experience. This reduces carbon emissions and widens opportunities for those who face long-distance journeys to participate.

Join us at the In_equality Conference 2024 and participate in global inequality research.

Registrations are now open until 10 March for on-site participation in Konstanz and until 30 March for online participation.
