Details: The Doctoral Program in Economics at the University of Zurich was launched in its current format in 2009. It offers both a set of courses taught (in English) by internationally renowned scholars at the University of Zurich and world-class research opportunities. The Zurich Graduate School of Economics (ZurichGSE) receives about 300 applications and admits between 12 and 16 students each year. Funding is guaranteed for four years, with those making satisfactory progress receiving a fifth year. Departmental scholarships are offered for the first year of the Ph.D. program, and recipients are expected to work as teaching assistants from the second year onwards. Research assistant positions are also available. In addition, the ZurichGSE offers three UBS Center Scholarships. All scholar- ships are awarded competitively on the basis of academic merit.

Details: This 10-month program taught by professors from top-universities (including Cambridge, Chicago, NYU and Yale) will prepare you for entry to first-rate PhD programs and careers with international organisations, central banks, research institutes etc. More than 600 participants graduated from the Advanced Studies Program (ASP) since its start in 1984. They are now part of the Advanced Studies Alumni Association, a global network with members in more than 50 countries. After graduating from the Advanced Studies Program, participants were admitted to PhD programs of renowned European and US universities, or moved on to positons with international organisations (IMF, World Bank, OECD, WTO, UN, EU, etc.), central banks and ministries, universities and research institutes, or international corporations. The program addresses in particular M.A. graduates but is also relevant for economists with some years of professional experience who would like to keep up with recent academic developments in the field, as well as for PhD candidates who are enrolled at universities without an own PhD program in international economics.
