The Symposium for Sustainability and Geopolitics is an interdisciplinary event that brings together researchers working at the intersection of sustainability, climate policy, environmental economics, finance, and accounting.
The Symposium for Sustainability and Geopolitics is held under the auspices of the El Shaarani Centre of Ethical Finance, Accountability & Governance, Durham University with the support of Lancaster University, Keele University and Hamad Bin Khalifa University. The symposium aims to promote interdisciplinary discussions on how geopolitical tensions, regulatory changes, technological developments, and evolving social priorities are reshaping the sustainability transition and the global economy.
We welcome theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented contributions from economics, finance, accounting, business, political economy, and related disciplines. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, sustainability and the future of work, sustainability in higher education systems, politics and firms’ sustainable behavior, climate policy and regulation, sustainable finance, energy markets and security, ESG and corporate governance, and the geopolitical dimensions of the energy transition. The symposium will conclude with a round-table discussion on sustainability, geopolitics, and the energy crisis.
