On this programme you will develop advanced capabilities in the discipline with an emphasis on issues related to the macroeconomic and financial environment. 

You will cover recent developments in macroeconomic modelling and build skills on the construction and calibration of dynamic structural general equilibrium models (DSGE). You will also enhance your understanding and ability to test models in international finance and financial markets.

The aim of the programme
The programme will help you build on your undergraduate studies to develop advanced capabilities in the discipline with an emphasis on issues related to the macroeconomic and financial environments. You will cover recent developments in macroeconomic modelling and enhance your understanding and ability to test models in financial markets. We will prepare you for a range of careers in which advanced economics analysis and independent thought are required, such as in central banks and financial institutions. Also, graduates of the programme are well placed for further study in economics.

The structure of the programme
The first semester includes an exciting new module Advanced Quantitative Methods in Economics, in addition to the existing modules (Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics 1). In the second semester field modules such as Central Banking and Monetary Economics, International Finance, and Advanced Macro are combined with modules of your choice. The programme also incorporates a Dissertation focusing on macro/finance for which you will be offered suitable guidance and expert supervision by one of our academics.
