Harvard University has honored economist Claudia Goldin with her appointment as Samuel W. Morris University Professor. The title of University Professor is one of the highest distinctions a faculty member can receive. This title, introduced in 1935, recognizes individuals whose work transcends multiple disciplines. 

The Leverhulme Trust has awarded £3 million to 30 outstanding researchers, six of which in Economics.

Andy Haldane CBE, former Chief Economist at the Bank of England, has been elected as the new President of the British Chambers of Commerce, succeeding Baroness Lane-Fox. He will assume the role on February 1, 2026. 

The renowned French economist Philippe Aghion will be awarded the 6th Hypatia Prize in a ceremony at Barcelona City Hall in Spring 2026. Recognized for his innovative contributions to economics, Aghion’s work aligns with the city’s commitment to research and innovation.
