PhD in Applied Economics
Rosella Nicolini
The PhD Program in Applied Economics at UAB is part of the Graduate Program in Applied Economic Research (GEAR) organized and managed by the Department of Applied Economics at UAB. The program is oriented to the preparation of researchers to produce high-quality research in applied economics to be published in international recognized scientific journals. Candidates will enjoy an international and very stimulating academic environment at UAB as well as in the Barcelona area. Our PhD candidates are prepared for the academic job market with international placements in academia or in international institutions.The PhD program offers presential training candidates with the possibility to course regular training activities (methodological and quantitative courses) and weekly seminars.

The program is currently welcoming applications for the academic year 2022/2023 (deadline July 30 2022).
Academic Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Economics or Applied Economics with a satisfactory average grade, a solid foundation in economics and analytical skills;
- Proficiency in English.

Financial support
The program is currently offering a full doctoral fellowship (FI-SDUR) for new enrollments whose applications will be submitted by March 31 2022. If you are interested in being considered for this fellowship, please mention it in your cover letter.
In the next months, there will be additional possibilities to apply for other doctoral fellowships (funded by public or private institutions) that will be awarded on a competitive base. The coordination of the PhD program will offer assistance to PhD selected candidates in this process.
