Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and the Asian Development Bank Institute invite the submission of papers to be potentially featured during the 10th Conference on Asia and Pacific Economies (CAPE) on 26-27 May 2023 in Suzhou, PRC, and/or virtually, organized by the Society for the Advancement in Economic Studies.
On the occasion of the 10th CAPE, selected papers will also be considered for inclusion in special issues of Economic Issues and Singapore Economic Review.
Papers should feature original, unpublished high-quality research in theoretical and empirical economic and social issues. The conference will feature both general sessions and ADBI special sessions.
The general sessions of the conference will focus on the People’s Republic of China (PRC) economy’s relationship with the other Asian and Pacific economies, bearing in mind the central role the PRC has played in the region’s economic development and its emergence as the world’s second largest economy. The general sessions will also consider the challenges Asia and the Pacific is now facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, climate change, the energy crisis, and the fourth industrial revolution which could alter the region’s future economic landscape.
Papers topics of interest for the general sessions include, but are not limited to:
- Economic integration
- Green finance
- Innovation
- Social and environmental sustainability
Paper topics of interest for ADBI special sessions at the conference include, but are not limited to:
- Digitalization, financial inclusion, and financial literacy
- Small and medium-sized enterprise finance
- Sustainable development goals and climate change
Submission Procedure
Authors should submit full papers of around 8,000 words in English, or extended abstracts with a detailed description of data, research design, main results, and contributions, via this link by 20 March 2023.
All submissions should contain a title, name, and affiliation of the author(s), contact information, and the appropriate fields (JEL classifications).
Early submissions with a full paper are preferred.
Authors submitting an abstract should provide their full paper no later than 31 March 2023. Authors of selected papers will be notified by mid-April 2023 or earlier.
All presenters will be requested to serve as discussants and provide comments on at least one paper. They are expected to attend both days of the conference.
Limited funding will be available for some on-site participants, including economy-class transport (airline or train) to Suzhou and up to 3 nights of accommodation. If the funding opportunities are exhausted, participants may also attend on a self-funded basis.
