—    ECONOMICS, IN PARTICULAR MACROECONOMICS (W2/W3)

The Institute of Economics has a strong focus on empirical economic research. The successful candidate will be expected to systematically develop an own internationally oriented empirical research program to make an innovative contribution to the institute’s research profile. You have a research focus on macroeconomics using state-of-the-art empirical methods (e.g., in fields such as “monetary and financial economics”, “international trade, development and globalisation”, “public finance and (international) financial relations”, or “international economic policy”). For this position, we are seeking a researcher with an outstanding international research profile, generating a lasting impact in their field as well as for society. Your academic work gives evidence of innovative contributions to research and teaching, of your talent for cooperating with partners inside and outside academia and your strong commitment to interdisciplinary dialogue.

You will be expected to contribute significantly to the School of Public Affairs’ profile by activities in international highly accepted research, high quality teaching, and acquisition of external scientific funding. You have an outstanding track record, particularly in international, peer-reviewed academic journals, and you have already established networks both nationally and internationally. You will be expected to initiate proposals for the acquisition of external funding from renowned research foundations, for example the German Research Foundation, European Research Council, or similar. You have experience in the acquisition of external funded projects, ideally you have already successfully acquired renowned third-party funding on your own. You integrate research findings into teaching and knowledge transfer activities. The successful candidate will make a substantial contribution to teaching, mostly in English, in the Economics major and minor in the bachelor’s program and the master’s program. You will teach macroeconomics classes at all levels and you have already documented teaching experiences and very good teaching skills in English and in that area. You will actively participate in the planning, development and administration of programs of study that include the study of economics. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in the doctoral program.
