MASTER’S IN ECONOMICS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE (EPS) AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MILAN

Taught entirely in English, the Master in Economics and Political Science (EPS) at the University of Milan is a unique two-year master program integrating advanced analytical tools in Economics and Political Science including both quantitative and qualitative methods.

A fully international student body and faculty from around the world ensure lively exchanges and interdisciplinary dialogue.

Participants can take advantage of double degrees and mobility agreements with leading European universities. Students in EPS will acquire a deep knowledge of the major international economic policy issues and will be trained to become key players and decision makers in global businesses, international organization and government agencies.

 

APPLICATION AND ADMISSIONS:  

Free. Applicants will be invited to an interview.  

The deadline for application is 30 June 2023 for EU students, 31 May 2023 for non-EU students requiring visa. 

Preferential consideration for the admission is given to candidates who submit their application by 30 April 2023

 

DISCIPLINARY CLASSIFICATION: Economics (LM-56) and Political Science (LM-62).

DURATION: 2 years (120 credits).

ATTENDANCE: Strongly recommended.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

EPS is intended for top level international students. Admission is based on academic excellence. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent; a strong interest and/or previous studies in economics, political science or related subjects; undergraduate or graduate training in mathematics and quantitative methods or a strong motivation to quickly fill their gaps in these fields; a sound knowledge of spoken and written English.

The evaluation process will take into consideration the applicants’ prior academic records and their motivation.

Applicants meeting eligibility requirements will be invited to an interview. Interviews may be held on-site or by videoconference.


LEARNING OUTCOMES

EPS graduates will have knowledge of the most advanced methodologies, analytical techniques, theoretical and empirical approaches in Economics and Political Science. EPS students will develop a strong ability to independently analyse the major economic and political phenomena, and to critically evaluate the qualitative and quantitative implications of various economic policies at local, national, and international level, with reference to market regulation, incomes distribution, public assets management, welfare goals achievement, security and social services, and regulation of economic and political relations between countries.
 

CAREER PROSPECTS

Would you like to write on a major international newspaper, negotiate as a sherpa for your government, write the budget for your Ministry of Economic Affairs, manage development projects for an international organisation, analyse and manage regulatory affairs or institutional affairs at a multinational bank, promote global sales for a multinational, or carry out a doctorate in Economics or Political science?

Then EPS is the degree for you.

EPS graduates have a 100% placement record. Two thirds of them are actively employed, abroad or in Italy. One third of them is pursuing a PhD, either in Italy or abroad.

 

STUDY ABROAD AS PART OF THE CURRICULAR PROGRAM

EPS has agreements and exchange programs with several top universities world-wide, where students will be able to attend lectures and obtain credits for their degree.

A bilateral agreement with the Catholic University of Louvain and the University of Namur (Belgium) allows a limited number of students to obtain a double degree in Sciences Economique and Economics and Political Science issued by both institutions. Our partners are selected among the most prestigious academic institutions in France (SciencesPo), Germany (University of Konstanz), Denmark (University of Copenhagen), Norway (University of Oslo), and other European countries. Moreover, an exchange with the HSBC Business School, Peking University Shenzhen (China) has been running since 2014.

Students can also participate in paid internship programs at institutions such as the European Social Observatory, the European Trade Union Institute, the European Anti-Poverty Network (Brussels), the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (Barcelona), Centre d'Etudes Prospectives et d'Informations Internationales (CEPII, Paris), the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, the Italian Institute for foreign trade in New York. Internships may also earn students credits to be included in their curriculum.
