Simone obtained her PhD in Economics from the University of Göttingen in 2018. Since 2019, she has been working at the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) in Helsinki. Before coming to Helsinki, she worked at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and was a consultant to the World Bank. Simone is specialized in International and Development Economics. Her main research focus is on the interlinkage between inequality, labour markets, and processes of structural transformation.
