Dezernat Zukunft is a non-partisan Berlin-based think tank operating at the intersection of politics, public administration, and research. Our team of around 25 people works to rethink and clearly communicate monetary, financial, and economic policy.

Our work is grounded in the core values of dignity, prosperity, and democracy. We are looking for individuals who share our value-driven approach and commitment to quality; who recognize how knowledge production can contribute to meaningful change; and who are ready to engage in both quantitative and qualitative analysis of monetary, financial, and economic policy – and to develop concrete proposals for reform.

A key focus of our work is how to finance the green transition towards climate neutrality. To support our climate team, we are currently seeking a Policy Analyst / Economist (f/m/d) specializing in sustainable financial markets (32–39 hours/week). The position is initially limited to one year, with the goal of extension.

Your Responsibilities

As a Policy Analyst / Economist for sustainable finance, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting in-depth analyses and coordinating research projects in collaboration with external partners in the area of sustainable financial markets, with a special focus on climate-related topics. A key emphasis will be on exploring how European and national financial market regulation can be adapted to mobilize more capital for the green transformation, including connections to fiscal and climate policy.
  • Developing policy proposals, position papers, and analyses in the area of sustainable finance. You will work closely with experts from our fiscal and monetary policy teams.
  • Organizing expert discussions and other events to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration.
  • Actively engaging with policymakers, government officials, academics, business representatives, and the media. Our work depends on close dialogue and cooperation with these stakeholders.
  • Taking ownership of your projects, working independently and thoroughly, with a genuine interest in climate, finance, macroeconomics, and policy. You are willing to dig deep, even when it requires going the extra mile.
  • Demonstrating a strong willingness to learn. Sustainable finance and climate policy are complex. We don't expect you to know everything on day one – what matters most is your capacity to grow your knowledge, refine your perspectives, and contribute to a culture of mutual learning.

Your Profile

You will be joining a think tank that wants to make a tangible difference. As a Policy Analyst / Economist for sustainable finance, you bring:

  • Purpose and values: You are aligned with our mission and core values.
  • Curiosity and drive: You are passionate about sustainable financial markets and the success of the green transition. You’re committed to understanding complex systems and learning continuously.
  • Education and experience: You hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field and have at least two years of relevant work experience. You bring strong knowledge of financial markets and climate policy, and a solid understanding of macroeconomic principles. A completed PhD is a plus.
  • Analytical skills: You are skilled at conducting independent, reliable analyses, both quantitative and written. You are aware that our work is subject to public scrutiny and take a conscientious approach to your research.
  • Writing skills: You have excellent written and spoken German and English, and can produce high-quality, accessible texts in both languages.
  • Team spirit: You are ready to work collaboratively, listen actively, and support and challenge your colleagues.

We know that some strong candidates might not meet every single requirement. If you believe you're the right fit, tell us why – we’d love to hear from you.

Why Join Us?

We offer:

  • Active support for your professional development, including training opportunities and networking.
